Transition to Reception

Starting school

Here you will find information regarding this years unique transition, for new parents and children moving to their new Reception class in our Early Years Foundation Stage

Hello and a very warm welcome to you and your family.  Due to current circumstances this page will be updated as more detail and guidance about the current situation develops. Please keep checking back in order for us to keep you informed and updated prior to starting in September.

Please take time to explore our website as it will give you an insight into our school, its staff, its values and its ethos.

Firstly let me say that I am very pleased that your child has been offered a place at Pelton Community Primary School from September 2020 and I am really looking forward to welcoming you to our school and EYFS settings.

Obviously this is going to be a very different transition to the one that our team would normally organise for you and your child.

In order for us to keep you as up to date as possible we would like to invite you to join our class dojo community as soon as possible. This will enable you to see any information or posts regarding transitions; including videos to help support the transitions for starting in September and also a range of fun activities to keep you busy over the summer. You will also have the facility to message your class teacher with any questions you may have.

As soon as we find out more information on school re-opening we will let you know, as well as further information on uniform, dates of meetings and other useful information. Phone calls will be taking place shortly and welcome packs will be sent to your home address in the next few months so we will let you know when to expect these to arrive.

If you would like to contact us in the meantime, please do so by emailing us at: pelton@durhamlearning.net and a member of staff will get back to you as soon as possible.

We look forward to meeting you,

Rachel Henry (EYFS Lead)

Adding your child to our Dojo community

If you are already a member of Dojo and receive messages via the app then you don’t need to do anything. If you are already set up on Dojo but haven’t received any messages lately please contact the office. If you are new to our school and have not received an email please contact the office.

Take a look at our journey into Reception Video

We have created a tour of what Reception looks like, to help you familiarise yourself before you start school in September. Information about where to come, what your class looks like, where you eat your lunch and what uniform you need to wear are included.
