Computing

Within the teaching of Computing, children develop key skills across the three areas: Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy. Teachers plan lessons that support and challenge children to develop coding skills and how to use a range of computer programs. We also aim to ensure that all our children become ‘digitally literate’ and know how to stay safe online when using all forms of technology.

Please see our Computing Overview and Progression in skills documents below:

Safer Internet Day 2022

In February, we celebrated Safer Internet Day. Each Year group completed an activity around being safe online:

Year 1 – Safe passwords
Year 2 – Who keeps you safe online?
Year 3/4 – Being safe on social media
Year 5 – Being respectful and responsible online
Year 6 – Digit footprint
Take a look at some of the work we produced!

Online Safety

Children are growing up in a world with a vast range of online activities and therefore need to know how to keep themselves and their personal information safe. As part of our curriculum and through assemblies and whole school events, our children are taught how to stay safe online and how to report anything they find upsetting or inappropriate online to an adult or organisation. We also ensure children are aware of online threats such as cyberbullying, fraud and viruses and how these can affect their personal information.

For more information and guidance on how to stay safe online and when using popular social media and gaming platforms, please visit our Online Safety page which is designed for both children and parents to use.
