School Sports

Pelton Community Primary School has a rich history of sporting success. We aim to provide as many opportunities as possible for children to be active and experience as many new sporting activities as possible during curriculum time and as part of after school clubs.

We regularly take part in a wide range of inter school sports competitions and festivals organised by the local Schools Sports Partnership and our local schools associations. These include: Football, Netball, Cross Country, Athletics, Dance and Tennis.

We also provide a number of after school clubs including: Athletics, Dance, Netball, Football, and SEN friendly sports such as Boccia and New Age Kurling.

Our School Sports Organising Crew and Physical Education Leader Mrs Tyrens regularly update our school sports Twitter page (@PeltonComSport) with exciting sports news including dates, competitions, events, results and celebrations.  They regularly lead competitions and events for the children as well as assemblies in school.

Below is how we use the School Games Values here at Pelton in our School Sport and School Competitions.

TEAM WORK – everyone is treated equally, we support and respect our fellow class mates and team mates in order to have fun and achieve.  We are positive role models.
HONESTY – We are honest with ourselves and with others.  We compete in a fair and honest way.
RESPECT – We show respect at all times for each other, for ourselves, for opposition teams, for referees.  We show sportsmanship, shake hands with our fellow opponents and support our team mates in a respectful manner.
DETERMINATION – Having the courage to follow our dreams.  Having the mental strength, self discipline and determination to overcome obstacles, work towards our goals and work on been the best sportsperson we can be.
PASSION – Giving 100% effort. Competing with your heart and soul and never giving up in adverse times.   Been passionate about the sport you play and willing to give 100% to achieve your goals.
SELF–BELIEF – Always believe you can achieve.   Having the confidence and self-belief to succeed.
